“We were not satisfied with our long term
trends on fertility and pounds weaned per
cow exposed. In 2008, we decided to buy bulls
from Leachman Cattle of Colorado. Since that
time, we’ve purchased over 250 bulls and we
now run 100% Leachman bulls.
We use Leachman’s $Ranch index because we
want to build the most profitable cowherd
possible. The bulls have held up well and all of
our trends are in the right direction. We see
our relationship with Lee and the company
as ‘a partnership.’ They are helping us make
selections, improve our cowherd, and market
the steers. It’s working!”
